An IV plus a doctor consult is a different product than a wellness drip. The drip is the same physical bag. The clinical layer wrapped around it is what makes it useful when you are actually sick — or when you want documentation, prescriptions, or a real second opinion before the line goes in.
The four layers of an IV-with-consult visit
1. The intake
A licensed Mexican physician reviews your medical history, current medications, allergies, recent symptoms, and the reason you booked. Vitals (blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation) are taken. If you have been vomiting or feel faint, a fingerstick glucose is added. The intake takes five to ten minutes; longer if you are acutely sick. This is included.
2. The clinical decision
Based on intake the doctor either confirms the planned drip, modifies it (different fluid base, different additives, different rate), adds a prescription medication that is only legally available with a physician (Zofran for nausea, Toradol for pain, famotidine for stomach acid), or — sometimes — recommends against the IV in favor of oral hydration plus a different treatment, or an ER referral if something more serious is suspected. This medical judgment is the whole point.
3. The drip itself
A nurse places the cannula, runs the bag at the rate the physician ordered, and monitors you throughout. If anything changes — your blood pressure drops, you get nauseous, your vein hurts — the rate is adjusted or the line is stopped and the doctor reassesses. Standard infusion time is 30–60 minutes.
4. The paperwork
You leave with a documented chart entry, an itemized English-language invoice with diagnosis and procedure codes, and any prescriptions you need for the rest of the trip (or to fill back home). This is what your travel insurance carrier wants to see for reimbursement.
Pricing at Cabo Quick Care
For a routine drip, the physician review is included in the IV price — no separate consult fee:
- Hangover IV: $169
- Hydration IV: $149
- Immune Boost: $159
- Myers Cocktail: $159
- Beauty Glow: $189
- NAD+: $189
- B-Complex Energy: $119
When you need a fuller medical workup beyond what’s needed for the drip (full exam, prescription beyond IV add-ons, documented diagnosis for travel insurance, labs sent out), the doctor consult is billed separately:
- In-clinic doctor visit: $119
- Video doctor visit: $79
- House call (in your hotel/villa): $200
When to add a separate consult
- You want a full medical visit, not just an IV — e.g. you are sick and not sure why.
- You need a prescription beyond what’s in the IV (antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, anti-anxiety meds).
- You need labs ordered and interpreted (same-day lab tests).
- You need a documented diagnosis for your travel insurance claim.
- You are coordinating with a hospital, your home doctor, or post-op care.
Mobile + doctor bundle
The doctor can come with the IV to your hotel anywhere across Cabo, the Tourist Corridor, and San José del Cabo. House-call visit + IV is the highest-touch option and best for elderly patients, post-op recovery, severely dehydrated travelers, and groups where multiple people need to be seen. See our 24/7 house-call page for ETA expectations.
What this is NOT
This is not a “concierge wellness” package. We do not promise anti-aging, detox, or any outcome an IV cannot deliver. It is medical-grade IV plus a licensed physician at the bedside, end to end. That is the entire upgrade.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to book the consult separately, or is it auto-included with the IV?
Auto-included as a brief intake. You only pay separately if you want a full medical visit ($119 in clinic / $79 video / $200 house call).
Can the doctor write prescriptions during the visit?
Yes. A Mexican-licensed physician can write any prescription appropriate for your condition.
Will the doctor send a report to my home physician?
On request, yes. We can email a HIPAA-conscious clinical summary in English.
Is the consult covered by travel insurance?
Most policies that cover medical emergencies abroad reimburse a documented consult plus IV. We provide the itemized invoice you need.
